Verified Impact Knowledge Series
A monthly online session sharing what operational carbon data from participating tourism properties is actually telling us: what is working, what is not, and where the practical levers sit.
Duncan Pritchard ·

Climate literacy is fast becoming as essential to tourism as service standards or guest safety. Travellers are asking harder questions about the footprint of their trip. Agents and buyers are building carbon and sustainability considerations into how they choose who to work with. Properties that understand their own impact, and can talk about it with real confidence, are the ones building trust with both.
Much of the industry is still working without that understanding. Relatively few properties measure their carbon footprint, and fewer still know what the resulting numbers mean in practice. Sustainability claims are often more marketing than substance, and there is a real cost to getting that wrong: guest scepticism, greenwashing accusations, and missing the shift already underway in how travel gets booked.
Over the past year we have been closing that gap. Baseline data from lodges and boutique properties across Africa has been measured and benchmarked, building a growing operational evidence base from participating tourism properties.
What the sessions cover
The Knowledge Series is a monthly online session where we share what the carbon data is actually telling us: what is working, what is not, and what the real levers are for reducing a property's operational footprint and bringing that work into the guest experience. No jargon, no greenwash, no theory divorced from what is happening on the ground.
Each session runs about an hour and is built to be genuinely interactive. Bring your questions, your own experience, what has worked for you and what has not. Sessions are open to anyone in tourism who wants to get sharper on this: property owners, sustainability leads, marketing teams, guides, and operators still figuring out where to start.
Different sessions speak to different parts of a business, so pick the ones that are useful to you. The material is built with hotels, lodges and property managers in mind, but the value does not stop there. If you are a travel agent, tour operator, or anyone else whose livelihood is tied to tourism, the properties you sell and the questions your clients ask run on the same underlying knowledge.
