We learn about the property, its location, operating model and reason for participating.

The property team is introduced to the reporting process, operational boundary and information requirements.

Data and evidence
The property gathers applicable records such as energy, fuel, transport, waste, supply-chain and occupancy information.

Technical assessment
ETC Africa reviews the evidence and calculates the property's operational greenhouse-gas inventory.

Learning and improvement
The result becomes a baseline for stronger evidence, operational priorities and future comparison.
Participation requires time and engagement from the property team. It is not a badge purchased through a fee or a sustainability claim awarded from a questionnaire.

Incomplete information does not automatically prevent participation. It must, however, be disclosed and reflected honestly in the Data Quality assessment.

Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee immediate onboarding. Participation depends on programme capacity, geographic fit and the stage of development of the relevant assessment pathway.
An important distinction
Participation begins with evidence—not approval.
Verified Impact is an assessment and learning framework. It does not sell a sustainability grade, carbon-neutral label or guaranteed positive result.
Participating properties may receive results showing strong evidence or weak evidence, lower intensity or higher intensity, and improvement or an increase over time.
The value lies in making that information visible and useful.
No guaranteed result
The outcome follows from the property's evidence and operational data.
No carbon-neutral claim
Avoided emissions, offsets and carbon sinks do not automatically cancel the gross operational inventory.
No simplistic ranking
Benchmark information is interpreted with operating context and is not a tourism star-grading system.
